Workplace Mediation Training
An advanced training for our volunteer mediators
Saturday, September 25, 2010
8:30 – 4:30 $85 fee
PCCDR is pleased to offer a 1-day training for our volunteer mediators who are interested in our workplace mediations. This training is open to active certified mediators. (Interns who have completed their mock mediation phase of the practicum and have begun co-mediating may apply for special approval).
As the Center grows and expands services, we are offering mediators another venue to offer their skills. We are seeking mediators who have a background in facilitative mediation and are interested in mediating these types of issues.
Workplace mediations often revolve around issues of:
- Working styles
- Personality differences
- Issue-specific conflicts (terminology specific)
- Competency/efficiency
- Recognition
- Fairness
- Organizational or managerial-related concerns
- History of personal relationship out of work
The biggest difference in our workplace mediations is they include pre-mediation screening and interviews by our staff prior to the mediation. Also, it is common for the referring party (supervisor) to not be a part of the mediation. At times through the screening process, it is revealed that additional identified parties need to be a part of the mediation, including supervisors. So, in some cases there are more than two parties and perspectives involved in the issues.
We will discuss the PCCDR case management & intake/screening process, common issues, and as always, allow for experiential role-playing exercises.
Limited enrollment. Application deadline September 7, 2010. Applications reviewed and confirmed by September 10, 2010. Registration Form (doc) (pdf)
