Basic Mediation Training
We offer a Washington Mediation Association-approved 40-hour Basic Mediation Training course three times per year. This course is open to the public. Our trainings are designed for both those who wish to become mediators, as well as those wishing to learn and apply basic concepts and interpersonal skills at work or home. Training participants often include managers, human resource workers, online staff, teachers, counselors, students, lawyers, community workers, government employees, or those just looking for something new and rewarding that can be applied to their daily life.
While this course is not exclusively for those wishing to be mediators, it does provide the first step toward becoming a mediator. The training includes large and small group exercises and discussion, and the opportunity to participate in 6-7 role plays. Courses are held three times per year, in the early spring, summer, and fall. Spring and fall courses are spread over two weekends to accommodate work schedules. Summer courses are held over five consecutive days.
There is no degree requirement for mediation training.
